🎮 Play Booky For authors

Terms

Last updated 13 August 2026

These are the terms for booking a feature day on Booky, the daily romantasy word game I run at 90books. Plain language, because I’d rather you actually read them. Questions: hello@90books.com.

What you’re buying

$79 buys one feature day. $199 buys a 3-day launch pack. On a feature day, your book is the answer to that day’s puzzle, and every reader who solves it sees your cover, your name and your buy link on the win screen.

A feature day also includes a shareable 1080x1920 graphic emailed to you, a permanent spot on the Booky Library shelf, a mention in that week’s reader newsletter, and a report of plays and clicks afterwards.

Payment and review

You pay up front through Stripe. Paying is not the same as being approved. Within 7 business days I check whether your book fits Booky’s readers, and then I either confirm your date or refund you in full. You hear from me either way.

If I turn your book down, you get all of your money back. I don’t keep a fee for looking.

The word is mine to pick

I choose the 5-letter word for your day. There’s a box at checkout for word ideas and I’ll use yours if it works as a puzzle, but the final call is mine, because a word that’s unguessable or already used breaks the game for everyone.

Dates

Book at least three weeks ahead. That’s what it takes to check the book, pick the word and get your graphic to you before you need to post it.

If your release slips or something else moves, tell me and I’ll move your day to the next open one at no charge. If nothing suitable is open, you can have a refund instead. If you don’t show up with a usable date, I’ll email you before I do anything.

Your graphic

Once you’re approved I email your graphic at least three days before your feature day. It’s yours to post anywhere you like, for as long as you like. The cover art in it is yours already; the Booky layout around it is mine, and I’d ask that you don’t resell it as a template.

What I don’t promise

I can’t promise sales, rankings, reviews or a particular number of clicks, and I’d be careful with anyone in book promo who does. What I promise is the feature, the graphic and an honest report of what actually happened, including when the numbers are small.

Paid feature days are always labeled as paid inside the game. That’s not negotiable, because it’s the reason readers trust the recommendations at all.

If something goes wrong

If your feature day doesn’t run because of something on my end, you get a full refund or a replacement day, your choice. Beyond that, what I owe you is capped at what you paid me.
