For authors and publishers
A book giveaway only romantasy readers see, on the game they play every day.
Your book giveaway in Booky
Featured authors
Authors share their day with their own readers. Kalie Cassidy posted hers the week she hit the New York Times list, and Heba Al-Wasity, the first author Booky ever featured, did the same. That is the half that reaches your readers rather than only mine.
“I am OBSESSED with the game Booky (wordle for romantasy readers!)”
Heba Al-Wasity, author of Weavingshaw, in the story she posted

$39
Fourteen days in front of romantasy readers, anywhere in the world. Advertise your book anytime, before or after publication.
Book a giveawayYou supply the ebook or audiobook copies and send them to the winner. Digital only, so the giveaway is open worldwide.
One giveaway runs a month. Book at least three weeks ahead, and if the book is not right for my readers you get a full refund. Everything that is included, and all the terms ›
How it works
A normal book giveaway, except that on two of the fourteen days your book is the answer to the puzzle. Players solve a word out of it before they ever see the cover.
Book your month and pay
The checkout asks for your book, the month and the format. Book at least three weeks out. If you have a release date, the run closes a few days before it, the way publishers schedule giveaways elsewhere.
I check it fits, usually within two or three days
I pick the two words your book will hide and confirm your dates. If it is not right for my readers, you get a full refund.
You send the copies and pay $39
Three to ten copies, however you normally deliver them: BookFunnel, a Kindle gift, an Apple or Kobo code, or the file itself. No print, so no postage and no addresses.
It runs for fourteen days
Your cover and buy link sit on the win screen the whole time. On two days, at least five days apart, the answer comes out of your book. Those two days then stay in the Booky archive, where players keep solving them long after the giveaway ends.
I draw the winner, you send the book
I draw within two days and send you the winner’s email. You send the book within four weeks. Then you get the report: plays, finishers, entrants, clicks, and the archive plays that keep coming in.
The graphic
Once your book is approved, I email you a finished card, sized for Stories and TikTok, at least three days before your giveaway opens so you have time to schedule it. Your cover, your title, your name, and the link printed on the graphic itself, so it still works when someone screenshots it or reshares it without the sticker. You don’t design anything and you don’t brief anyone.
The link is printed on the card, not just attached as a story sticker, so it survives a screenshot and a reshare.
Who plays
Booky is not a general book site with a romance shelf. Every player came for romantasy. Most of them arrive from the subreddits where the genre lives, people who were already deep in ACOTAR or Fourth Wing threads and came to play a game about the books they read anyway. Then they come back the next day, and the day after.
Why Booky
You don’t have to choose. Add this to what you already run: a BookBub deal, a Goodreads giveaway, and this. It reaches a smaller room where everyone already reads romantasy, and yours is the only book given away here that month.
Good to know
$39 for a fourteen-day giveaway, paid at the checkout. That is the whole price. No setup fee, no cut of your sales, no upsell. You supply the copies, which for a digital file costs you nothing.
You do, and that is how book giveaways work everywhere: the host is solely responsible for getting the prize to the winner. I draw the winner and send you their email address, and you send the book. I never hold your file or stand between you and the reader.
Not here. Ebook and audiobook only, so there are no addresses, no postage and no customs for either of us, and the giveaway can be open worldwide instead of one or two countries. Three to ten copies is the usual range, and on a digital file extra copies cost you nothing.
No, only the winner’s, and only so you can send the book. That is the standard everywhere and I hold it too. You also must not add the winner to a mailing list or ask them for a review, and I will not book you again if you do. My readers gave me their email for a word game, not to be sold to.
Within four weeks of the giveaway closing. The winner has a week to claim, and if they go quiet I draw again and tell you. If something goes wrong on your side, tell me before the four weeks is up rather than after.
Romantasy, and romance with a good fantasy thread running through it. Booky’s readers turn up for that one genre, so a book outside it will not run no matter what it pays. I check every book myself, usually within two or three days, and refund you in full if it is not right. I reserve the right to refuse a book for any reason, which is what keeps the shelf something readers trust.
Enough that the last giveaway took 114 entrants, and every one of them reads romantasy. I will give you the current numbers when you book, because they move month to month. What does not move is who they are: a genre audience rather than a general one, so your book is in front of people who already read what you write.
Most people run both, and at $39 this is meant to sit on top of what you already book rather than replace it. The difference is the room: on a big site your giveaway sits in a list of hundreds shown to everyone who reads anything, while here it is the only book given away that month, in front of romantasy readers only, and on two of the days the answer to the puzzle comes out of your book.
That is most of who books it. Indie and small press authors are the whole point, and your book sits on the same shelf as the traditionally published ones. I don’t care who published it, only whether my readers will want it.
Once your book is approved I email you the finished card, at least three days before your giveaway opens. Nothing to design and nothing to brief: post it to Stories, Reels or TikTok, send it to your newsletter or your street team. The link is printed on the card, so people can get to the game even from a screenshot.
At least three weeks. That covers checking your book, picking the word and getting your graphic to you a few days before you post it. Only one giveaway runs a month, so release weeks fill up first. If your release is sooner, email me anyway and I will tell you honestly whether I can fit you in.
Tell me before it goes live and you get a full refund or a later month, whichever you prefer. Once it is live I cannot refund it, because the word is locked into the queue, your graphic is made and your book has its shelf page.
Yes, and ARC readers are a good fit here because the people playing are already looking for their next romantasy read. Say it is an ARC when you book and I will label it as one on the giveaway, so nobody is expecting a finished copy.
Your two days stay in the Booky archive, where players work through old puzzles long after the day has passed. Your cover and buy link are still on them. Those archive plays are counted and they go in your report, so the number usually keeps climbing after the giveaway closes.
Romantasy readers, mostly from the subreddits where the genre actually lives. They turn up from a thread about ACOTAR or Fourth Wing, play a word game about the books they already read, and keep coming back daily. Nobody is here by accident and nobody is here for a different genre, which is the only reason a small audience is worth paying for.
No, and I would be careful with anyone in book promo who says they can. You also cannot ask the winner for a review, here or anywhere else that runs giveaways properly. What you get is the giveaway, the two feature days, the graphic, and an honest report of how many played, finished, entered and clicked.
One giveaway a month, so there are twelve a year.
The checkout asks for your book, the month and how you will send the copies. Questions first? hello@90books.com.
